The CFA Charterholder designation requires four years of investment/financial career experience and a bachelor’s degree. The CFA Charter is one of the most respected designations in finance considered by many to be the gold standard of investment analysis.

30 – Susan and John attended the Community Food and Outreach Center year-end Board meeting.

27 – Susan attended the ribbon cutting ceremony opening the new Health Care Clinic and Counseling Center in the Community Food and Outreach Crisis Center on Michigan Street campus. The clinic will provide health and counseling services for the many working poor individuals and families who currently do not have access to these vital services.

27 – John participated in a Corporate Donor tour of the Eatonville Boys and Girls Club to learn more about the exact services provided in the long-awaited and much needed larger new facility.

13-16 – John attended the annual Charles Schwab IMPACT Conference in Chicago. The Conference provided not only some of his required annual CFP continuing education but also global economic and investment information vital to portfolio management and client financial consulting.

General Session presenters included Greg Valliere, Chief Political Strategist with Potomac Research Group and Liz Ann Sonders, Chief Investment Strategist for Charles Schwab & Co, who discussed Politics and the Economy in 2013. Peter Diamandis, Founder and CEO of X PRIZE Foundation and Co-Founder of Singular University shared his view of the investment world. There was also a lively panel discussion on The Global Investment Landscape and Opportunities featuring Scott Nuttall and George Roberts of KKR & Co, and Charles Schwab, moderated by Maria Bartiromo of CNBC. Ken Wandell, CEO of Harley-Davidson, Inc. spoke about leading into the 21st Century. There were also two very thought provoking discussions on America’s Challenges in a New World Order (presented by Robert Gates , former U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Richard Haas, President of the Council on Foreign Relations) and Renewing America’s Economic Prosperity (presented by Erskine Bowles, former White House Chief of Staff, and Alan Simpson, former U.S. Senator from Wyoming). John attended breakout sessions on driving efficiency through technology, effectively serving clients in transition and loss, establishing a culture of compliance, leadership, investing in uncertain markets, and ethics.

29 – John attended the JP Morgan 2012 Fall Roadshow event at the Citrus Club. Lee Spelman, a Managing Director at JP Morgan, discussed a broad range of market topics including relative valuations, investor behavior, and portfolio construction.

26-27 – Spraker Wealth Management was a major Small Business Sponsor in attendance again this year at the Winter Park Food and Wine Classic which included “Cows ‘n Cabs” on Saturday night. This event featured a live band, a silent auction, food tastings from many top area chefs, and wine and beer samples from national breweries and wineries which set up tasting tables throughout the tent on the Park Avenue West Lawn. Several hundred attended the event which benefited Community Food and Outreach Center and the Coalition for the homeless. Susan and John also attended Friday’s inaugural James Beard Dinner in Winter Park, which benefited The James Beard Foundation and the UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management.

25 – The Spraker Wealth Management team attended Community Food and Outreach Center’s “Rebuilding Broken Lives” annual luncheon held this year at First Baptist Church of Orlando. Attended by over 500 guests, it raised over $200,000 to support the tireless efforts of CFOC to offer help and support to those in need in the Central Florida community. An additional $110,000 matching gift was provided by First Baptist Church of Orlando and the friends and members of the CFOC board.

23 – Kelly attended an information session at the Hope Community Center in Apopka to learn about their mission to help the working poor in Central Florida. As a recent arrival to the Central Florida region, Kelly was eager to find an opportunity to volunteer in her local community and looks forward to helping Hope Community Center with their upcoming holiday season.

22 – John became a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the country’s leading professional association of Fee-Only Financial Advisors. Membership enables Fee-Only financial planners to enhance their professional skills and give a collective voice to the concerns of their clients. NAPFA has rigorous education standards and requires a minimum of 60 hours every two years of continuing education in all five areas of financial planning. Everyone at Spraker Wealth Management is proud of John for striving to meet the highest standards of the financial planning industry.

The October 26th and 27th event on the Central Park West Meadow is a gastronomic and entertainment extravaganza to benefit the Orlando Community Food and Outreach Center (CFOC) and the Coalition for the Homeless. As a CFOC Board Member, Susan has been collaborating with CFOC Board President David Larue and Event Coordinator, Tina Larue, to ensure this year’s Classic is a success.

27 – As new members of our Spraker Wealth Management team, Sunita and Kelly were given a tour of one of the major nonprofit organizations the company supports, Orlando Community Food and Outreach Center (CFOC). They were fortunate to hear the history and current programs as well as see families, mostly children, receiving a hand up throughout the facilities. Sunita and Kelly were guided by Founder Scott George. Bar far the biggest excitement for them was seeing the construction of the new Children’s Clinic, a dream the entire community has been waiting to see fulfilled since it closed in the middle of the Great Recession. Target completion and staffing date is December. Spraker Wealth Management is proud to continue to support CFOC through staff volunteering and leadership roles on the Board of Directors by John and Susan.

8 – The Winter Park – Maitland Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its 49th house since its local inception at 626 West Comstock Avenue in Winter Park. This Habitat has an average of about 20 volunteers from the area, including our own John West, but needs about 30 each week. They meet every Saturday 9 AM – 12 at the Comstock site.

31 – Financial Advisor Magazine July 2012 ranked Spraker Wealth Management in the top 20 RIA firms in its class (Assets Under Management-AUM-$75Million to $100Million) surveyed across the country. Within its category, the firm was ranked 6th of those top 20 firms in 2011 asset growth per client, over 20%; ranked 2nd in average client portfolio size of $1.24Million. While the number of clients grew 4%, growth in AUM for the firm grew over 25%. Spraker Wealth Management continues to emphasize deep, dependable and increasing wealth management services and communications to a limited number of clients.
